Bryant Park in May
Watercolor, 12x16 inches
Bryant Park is one of my favorite spots in NYC.
What I mostly like about Bryant Park is that it’s perfectly located and integrated within the city. And that’s why it’s always full of people hanging out, sitting at the benches and tables, everyone absorbed in his own businesses. Tourists taking pictures, sipping coffees and teas, New Yorkers eating sandwiches during their lunch breaks, or simply having relax reading their favourite books or newspaper, writing on their laptops. If you find the right angle, you can also have a nice view of the Empire State Building, among the other skyscrapers. This is one of my favorite sides of the Park.
The place is so nice and organic with a connection of lines and forms of nature and urban life. And I love how the contrast of natural light and shadows interact with these forms. On any sunny day I noticed that silhouettes of people create pretty unique patterns and rhythms of this place. So, I want to capture these moments with my sketches of this scene.
