Creekside Reverie

After exploring this subject in two other smaller studies, I created this larger oil. It's always the hope that, once I get to the larger size, I've worked out all the kinks and fine tuned every aspect of the painting. I'm never sure if that completely happens, but my more important goal leans more toward allowing each painting to embody a special, unique representation of the landscape, rather than just a copy of the previous study or the actual subject. With this particular subject, which is simply a little creek that runs through my neighborhood in Bend, Oregon, I strived to provide the viewer with peace, tranquility and the simple beauty of nature around us within a 24" x 30" space.
