Caballito

“Caballito” - (oil on canvas) A piñata in the style of a war horse’s portrait stands in the middle of an English landscape, his bright colors contrasting with the earth-tone hues of the environment where he stands. The piñata is the figurative elephant in the room, quite literally in an exhibition space. The mere presence of a piñata in a fine arts space can be seen as both protest and celebration. My piñatas inhabit space where no one expects to see them. Yet the piñatas all very clearly belong.
