Painted entirely on location, on Catalina Island, on the "backside" of the island...from Avalon! One of my favorite haunts. Created before "plein air paintings" were widely accepted or known about in the USA! With nat'l ads that I set up for Plein Air Painters of America, back in 1987 (the word "plein air" had NOT been used in the USA art circles since 1928 or so!) Denise Burns asked me to do ONE nat'l ad for new group PAPA. Was a great group of about 27 artists, and we painted for 2 weeks, having a grand gathering at the Casino Ballroom! Yes, those were the days!!!
